Krist Novoselic Officially Changes Name To “That Other Guy From Nirvana”.

Imagen
- Krist Novoselic, the long suffering bass player from the band Nirvana, has officially changed his name to “That Other Guy From Nirvana”.  Novoselic was a founding member and bass player for Nirvana for the entire duration of the band. However, he was overshadowed by the other two members of the band, Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl.  - Grohl “I was sick of everyone calling me that other guy from Nirvana” said Novoselic. “So I decided to make it official and change my name. Being the bass player in a band is hard enough but when you are in a band with a genius like Kurt Cobain you are completely over looked. That is understandable and I could deal with that, but then the drummer over shadows me. That is a little hard to take. A guy that beats on things for a living ends up becoming like the biggest rock star on the plant. Who the heck even knew Grohl could sing, play the guitar and write songs, WTF. He wasn’t even an original member of the band.” Nirvana was formed in Aberd...

Kirk Hammett Reveals Why Kurt Cobain Didn't Want To Share The Stage With Guns N' Roses.

Imagen
- In a brand new interview with   NME ,   Kirk Hammett   reflected on the fact that   NIRVANA   turned down the opening-act slot on a 1992 stadium tour featuring   METALLICA   and   GUNS N' ROSES . - "I had to make the phone call to  Kurt  [ Cobain ,  NIRVANA  frontman] to talk to him about the possibility of joining our tour and he just went on and on about how he just didn't like what  GUNS N' ROSES  stood for and I said to him: 'Just go out there and represent  NIRVANA  — just play the show and then that's it'. I pleaded with him, but he just wasn't having it. So there you have it. It would have been great if  NIRVANA  was part of that tour — but you know [the actual opening act]  FAITH NO MORE  were great as well. " When we played Seattle on the 'The Black Album' tour, I remember calling   Kurt   to invite him to the show and he said to me: 'Are you guys going to play...

Anyway, Here's 'Wonderwall'... In the Style of Nirvana

Imagen
- Grunge legends meet the ultimate britpop anthem. Emerging as Europe's (and, specifically, UK's) response to the gloomy atmosphere of Seattle's grunge, britpop became one of the defining movements of the '90s as well. - Led by the rivalry between Blur and Oasis, the genre took over the decade's middle years, and produced some of rock's biggest songs of the last 30 years. Arguably the biggest hit to come out of britpop, "Wonderwall", from Oasis' 1995 sophomore album "(What's the Story) Morning lory?" is a 6x-platinum single still relevant today, especially as a meme for that guy who always carries around an acoustic guitar (we all know one). Now, courtesy of Moonic Productions , "Wonderwall" got the YouTube treatment, and was re-worked in the style of Nirvana, the biggest band from the genre britpop was rebelling against. Krist Novoselic on recording In Utero and what Nirvana’s future would have been if Kurt Cobain had lived: “After that, we could have done whatever we wanted

- The bassist says fans can hear what the next Nirvana album might have sounded like with You Know You’re Right. - Krist Novoselic has spoken about the recording of  In Utero  and what the album’s completion would’ve meant for  Nirvana  if Kurt Cobain were alive. “There was so much going on from  Nevermind  to April of 1994. But somehow, for  In Utero , amidst all that, the band came together,” Novoselic says of the band’s final album in a new issue of  Uncut. Describing the record as ‘musically diverse’, the bassist says  In Utero  “goes from haunting to menacing to poppy.  All Apologies  is a really good melody.  Milk It  is terrifying, that’s full-on Kurt Cobain intensity right there.  Tourette’s  is a screaming punk rock song that we did in one take.” - “I thought, ‘Wow, this is not mainstream.’ But we also delivered. There was the Nirvana that you’d expect: the quiet part, the drum roll and boom,...

The Oasis song that was inspired by Nirvana’s “I Hate Myself and Want to Die”

Imagen
- During the nineties, Nirvana and Oasis stood at opposite ends of alternative rock. While the Manchester musicians were the most melodic side of the time, the Seattle lineup represented the most chaotic and nihilistic trend of their generation. Nevertheless, there was something else that united both groupsbeyond their mutual love for the legacy of The Beatles. - Years ago, during an interview with the television program  lock the box ,  Noel and Liam Gallagher spoke about how the single “Live Forever” represented a turning point in their career . In this regard, the eldest of the brothers commented: “ It was the melody, as I recall, that changed everything . It seemed to be a day that we were a certain kind of band. I mean it was written before the record deal and all that. That set off a chain reaction and everything went on from there.” Later,  the acclaimed Oasis guitarist confessed that the 1994 song was inspired by a song by Kurt Cobain and company : “At the ...

Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic Still Has Dreams About Kurt Cobain

Imagen
- Krist Novoselic  shares an interesting phenomena going on in his brain. Twenty years after the death of   Kurt Cobain , Novoselic still dreams of his deceased bandmate. Speaking to the Young Turks, Krist Novoselic spoke about his dreams of Cobain while reminiscing about the Nirvana frontman. “I think, looking back, I was just confused," Novoselic begins. "It took me a lot of years to work through that, I tried to do the best I could. We were at our best when we were playing. We liked to rehearse, we liked to make songs, and play together. That’s what we did best, that’s when we were happy. I have dreams about Kurt. I’m so happy to see him in a dream, like, ‘Oh my god, it’s so good to see you.’ Then we’re always like, ‘Okay, let’s go play.' We’re always going to go play music, so there’s some kind of connection there, which is good. That’s what it’s all about.” - Speaking of Nirvana members, Novoselic also spoke about how Dave Grohl came to join the band. "It...

When asked, "Does it feel like 30 years ago, or was it just like yesterday?", Grohl replied (transcribed by UG): - "It feels like a lifetime ago. I feel like I lived a few lifetimes since then. But I don't necessarily feel any different than I did. "I was 22 when that record came out. I feel 22 until I look in the mirror and go, 'Oh, I'm not 22 anymore...' "To me, Nirvana really was three people with some instruments that made a big noise, and we drove around in vans, and we played in clubs, and we did things like that. "And then it became something else. "I look at Nirvana much differently than someone else might. It's become such a big part of popular culture. Everywhere I ...
